Description
Multinational business service provider Comdata announced 264 redundancies due to the closure of two of its Italian branches, respectively in Pozzuoli (near Naples) and Padova.
According to a joint public statement of the three confederal telecommunications trade unions (Slc, Fistel and Uilcom), the redundancies are not due to a loss of orders, but driven by the need to maximise profits. The unions consider the dismissals 'unacceptable' and have called for the mobilisation of workers. A first strike was called for 18 May.
In Italy, Comdata has a total employee base of 12,000 and revenues of €700 million.
