Description

SlovTan Contract Tannery in Liptovský Mikuláš, which deals with tanning and dressing of leather, is planning to expand its production. The SlovTan plant in Liptovský Mikuláš processes domestic cowhide and imported kangaroo leather from Australia. According to SlovTan Contract Tannery manager, Marián Dávidek, new investment will create about 40 new jobs in the plant. The capacity of the first stage of raw leather processing technology will increase from present almost 26,000 tones of raw leather per year to 34,600 tones. For instance, SlovTan processed 25,600 tones of cowhide and 150 tones of kangaroo leather in 2015. The increase of raw leather processing capacities will mean an expansion of sorting and cold-storage capacities to manage stock. The new cold-storage room was opened on 14 July 2016.
