Description
Finnish Red Cross has initiated employer-employee negotiations aiming to cut 300 positions due to the Finnish Immigration Service's decision to close 44 temporary housing facilities for refugees before the end of November. These facilities had the capacity to accommodate 6,000 refugees. All districts, except for the Oulu district, will be affected by the negotiations. During the spring the Finnish Red Cross has already made 300 employees redundant following closed housing facilities for refugees and a lower demand for services connected to the arrival of refugees.
The Finnish Immigration Service is in total lowering the amount of available beds for refugees by 16,000. In addition to staff from the Finnish Red Cross thousands of volunteers are working at the temporary housing facilities.
