Description

Duslo Sala, producer of fertilizers, rubber and glue, is to dismiss 140 workers. Dismissals will be made in the production of rubber chemicals.

The restructuring is reported to be due to a decline in orders for rubber-based chemicals, high energy prices and increasing competition from Asia. According to the company’s management, more layoffs are probable in the future.

Duslo Sala employs about 1,900 staff in the production of rubber chemicals. The company is a subsidiary of Agrofert group. In 2007, it had reported the dismissal of 230 staff in order to increase competitiveness.
