Description
German manufacturer of automotive components, Mahle, is to close by March 2014 its manufacturing operations unit in Ingersheim that currently employs 270 employees. As announced by the management, the restructuring is due to the overcapacity of its production in Europe and thus the company decided to close its French site rather than other sites in Italy, Spain and Poland. The French site lost 43 million euros between 2007 and 2012. In 2009, the management had launched a social plan with 120 job cuts (see Mahle-FR2009). For previously reported restructuring events in the group see Mahle-DE2010, Mahle-WO2009, Mahle-DE2009, Mahle-ES2009, Mahle-UK2009, Mahle-AT2008, Mahle-PL2008 and Mahle-PL2005.
