European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 12 October 2012, the manufacturer of fire extinguishers Sicli, announced to its Central Works council, its intention to cut up to 146 positions before the end of the year in its sites of Saint-Florentin (Yonne) and Cergy-Pontoise (Oise).
90 to 96 positions will be cut in Saint-Florentin and 50 in Cergy-Pontoise. The management will request a relocation of 33 out of 50 employees of Cergy-Pantoise to another plant, which would bring the number of dismissals down to 123.
The management claims that the dismissals are due to lack of competitiveness and high production costs. The unions, on the other hand, argue that the reason is the offshoring of a part of the production to a unit in Poland.
