Description
Ireland's state TV and radio broadcaster, RTE, intends to conduct a major reform and restructuring of its operations in a bid to cut costs at the station, affecting 200 people. In the newsroom, the management is looking for 40 redundancies out of a total newsroom staff of 335.
RTE is proposing an amalgamation and consolidation of its various activities around the country. In total, the station is seeking up to 200 'voluntary' redundancies, and it has been reported that it has already received close to that number of responses.
