Ericsson, a telephone operator, gave notice to 1,000 employees at the Swedish units in Stockholm, Hudiksvall, Karlskrona, and Luleå. The dismissals are due to the need for rationalisation and cost-saving within the company.
Over 1,000 networks in more than 175 countries utilize the Ericsson network equipment and 40 percent of all mobile calls are made through their systems.
