Description
The Norwegian electronics group Kitron, with around 1,400 employees at several sites in Norway, Sweden and Lithuania, announced on 9th of February a worldwide downsizing of 250 employees. Most of the job losses were to be cut in Norway (170) and to a less extent in Sweden (60) and Lithuania (20). On 8th of May the company announced another 120 job losses due to weaker market expectations.
The first 250 employees are leaving in these days, of which 130 at Hisøy outside Arendal. The NITO union leader at Hisøy has said to Agderposten that he expects no more cuts there, and that most of the remaining downsizing of 120 will take place in Sweden and Lithuania. Nothing more is indicated about time schedule or measures.
