European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Charles Jourdan, a French shoe manufacturer, has announced the closure of its site in Romans-sur-Isère with the loss of 197 jobs in December 2007. The sole candidate bidding for the firm, Omniscent group, an US manufacture of perfumes and cosmetics, withdrew its interest.
Charles Jourdan Holding Age, is the owner of Charles Jourdan SAS, the French company holding the shoes production facilities. On September 12, Charles Jourdan went into compulsory administration for the third time in the last four years. The group has a debt of 2.0 millions EUR.
CGT, the French federation of clothing, textile and leather industry will provide a vocational training programme to Charles Jourdan's workers in order to help them change their qualifications and find a new job.
