The Management of the American Lear Corporation Michigan announced its intention to invest in Slovakia. In order to establish its new production plant in Prešov the Company will invest around 2 billion SKK there. The investment is a response to the continuous boom of the automotive industry in the country. According to Lear Corporation Vice-president, Mr. James Brackenbury, the workforce available, the attractiveness of the region and the possibility to expansion in the region were the most important factors taken into account at the decision. Local municipality will support the investment by infrastructure, retraining of workforce and its transport. Motorcar seats will be produced in the new plant. At least 500 new jobs will be created at the first stage of the investment.
