Philips Semiconductors employs over 32,000 employees in more than 50 countries. With sales of around $4.4 billion in 2001, Philips Semiconductors is one of the world's top semiconductor suppliers. 90 job losses announced on 4 December 2002 (50 should happen 'naturally', for the other 40, Philips tries to find an outplacement solution).

In 2003, new dismissals were announced by the company (2003-03-13).
