Description

Ikea France, a subsidiary of the Ingka Group, has announced an internal restructuring that could affect up to 303 positions, primarily within its administrative functions across France, especially in Paris. The plan also includes the creation of 100 new roles. Of the 303 positions, 164 will be eliminated, 100 individual will be redeployed, and approximately 40 contracts be modified.

The restructuring is driven by changes in the furniture market, accelerated digitalisation, and intensified competition. The aim is to simplify operations, shorten decision-making processes, and strengthen relationships with those in the field.

The job saving plan negotiations will start in November and continue until March 2027. The trade unions CFDT and CGT, have engaged in negotiations. A CFDT representative criticised the decision as paradoxal in view of the company's finances. He also points out to the lack of actions regarding the rise of AI and the digital transition. This restructuring also takes place in a context where the relationship between management and employees is already strained, following the lack of social dialogue of July 2025 Ikea France 2026 - FR.

The total workforce of Ikea France is over 12,000 employees.

The ERM database has recorded several large-scale restructurings by Ikea, with the latest in Spain: IKEA 2026 - ES.
