Description

Makro Cash and Carry Polska, the Polish arm of the German wholesale group Metro, announced in October 2026 a collective redundancy procedure covering up to 250 posts in its wholesale halls and at its Business Support Centre in Warsaw.

The company cites a difficult market environment and ongoing cost optimisation.

As of October 2026, there is no information on when the job losses will be implemented or how they will be split between the halls and the head office.

NSZZ Solidarność, chaired at the company by Daniel Cichocki, announced it would seek to limit the number of dismissals and secure higher severance pay. Consultations with the unions began on 13 October 2026.

In 2025 the company closed four halls in Rybnik, Słupsk, Toruń and Zabrze, cutting 400 jobs.
