Description

Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) Italia, an international business-travel provider, announced 190 collective redundancies affecting employees across its operations in Italy. The restructuring follows recent changes in the company’s ownership structure and is taking place in the context of organisational and technological changes, including increased investment in artificial intelligence and digitalisation.

Trade unions Filcams CGIL, Fisascat CISL and UILTuCS have called for a transparent discussion with management on the reasons behind the collective redundancy procedure and on possible alternatives to dismissals, seeking to protect employment and retain workers’ skills. The unions have also urged the involvement of national authorities and political actors in a broader debate on the implications of artificial intelligence for employment and labour rights.
