Description
Paul Köster GmbH, a German manufacturer of specialty machinery focused on sealing inspection, assembly and automation technologies, announced the elimination of 90 jobs at its Medebach site, leaving 212 positions intact, including all training contracts. This reduction is part of an insolvency restructuring that is scheduled to conclude by January 2027.
The company was prompted to enter an insolvency restructuring following a sharp decline in automotive industry orders, rising input costs and several customer insolvencies.
All the job cuts are concentrated at the site in Medebach. The aim is to stabilize operations while preserving the Medebach plant. Affected employees are transferred to a transfer agency and are provided with additional training to help them find new employment.
IG Metall has been involved in advisory discussions with management.
The family business had around 300 employees at the opening of proceedings, leaving the company with a workforce of roughly 200 after the layoffs. This means that every third employee is layed off. The company only has a site in Medebach.
