European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
O-I Glass France, from the American glass container group Owen Illinois (O I), announced a plan to reduce its workforce by 600 positions. The cuts target employees at its headquarters in Vaulx en Velin (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) and also other sites across France.
The programme was approved in October 2025 and validated in December 2025, started in 2026 with no specified final date for the layoffs.
The restructuring stems from a slowdown in the wine market coupled with overcapacity and strong competition. All 600 job losses will be effected through direct contract terminations. The Comité Social et Économique (CSE) has been involved in informing workers about the plan, but no formal negotiations have taken place.
