European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Viant, an American industrial manufacturing company, announced the dismissal of 114 employees from its Chaumont site, cutting half of its French workforce. The layoffs will begin starting the end of September 2026. The restructuring is driven by the loss of a major client whose contract ends in June 2027 and whose share on the turnover rate is of 85%, prompting Viant to ensure the site’s economic viability.
The company has held meetings with the works council and engaged employees in discussions about the job saving plan. Trade unions and the works council hope to be able to save several jobs once the affected positions are communicated to the workers concerned.
Viant counts a total of 7,000 employees worldwide, out of which 229 are in France.
