European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Moelven Byggmodul AB, a Swedish manufacturer of wooden module constructions, has announced a layoff of 57 employees due to weak demand.
In mid-September 2026, Moelven Byggmodul announced that 65 employees in manufacturing and 15 white-collar workers were subject to potential redundancies. The notice was a consequence of weak demand in the construction industry and means that one of the two production lines in Säffle will be shut down.
Following trade union negotiations, the redundancy of employees within manufacturing was lowered to 57 with a notice period of four months. Negotiations concerning white-collar staff have not yet been finalised.
The decision follows a period when the company restarted and then had to pause the production line after low orders. Management indicated that market conditions remain fragile but anticipates future opportunities as construction activity stabilises.
