European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Vogel Druck, a German printing company based in Höchberg near Würzburg, has announced the permanent closure of its facility, resulting in the loss of approximately 280 jobs. The shutdown is expected to be completed by June 2027 at the latest.
The closure follows a sustained decline in demand for printed magazines and catalogues, as publishers and industrial clients increasingly shift towards digital formats, prompting a strategic review within the Bertelsmann Group. The decision reflects broader changes in media consumption and distribution, with a growing emphasis on digital channels.
The company is now seeking to negotiate a social plan with employee representatives. The workforce reduction is intended to be implemented in a socially responsible manner, with measures such as severance payments and the establishment of a transfer company currently under consideration.
