Description

TKMS, a German shipbuilder operating in the maritime defence sector, announced plans to create up to 1,500 new jobs at his shipyard in Wismar in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The expansion is being driven by a €20 billion submarine contract with Canada and represents the largest order in the company’s history. Construction of the submarines is scheduled to begin in September 2026. The programme is expected to strengthen Germany’s shipbuilding industry and support employment growth in the region.

TKMS currently employs approximately 9,100 people worldwide.
