Description

Stellantis has announced plans to implement a collective redundancy programme (ERE) affecting 175 employees at its Villaverde plant in Madrid, following a downward revision of production forecasts and an expected reduction in workload over the coming years. The company intends to negotiate voluntary or mutually agreed departures, while also applying a temporary lay-off scheme (ERTE) covering 89 employees between August and the end of the year to manage reduced production.

Despite these workforce adjustments, both management and trade unions insist that the long-term future of the Madrid plant is secure. This confidence stems from Stellantis’ decision to transfer the facility to its joint venture with Leapmotor, together with the allocation of two new D-SUV models that will be manufactured in Villaverde under the “Made in Europe” strategy. The measures will not affect Stellantis’ Vigo plant, which continues to operate according to its existing industrial plans and production levels.
