Description
Ebro Motors Group, a Spanish automotive manufacturer, has announced the launch of its new M1 production line at the Zona Franca plant in Barcelona. The expansion will create 350 additional jobs, boosting the group’s workforce to 2,045 employees, with 1,500 working directly at the Barcelona facility.
The M1 line triples the plant’s capacity, reaching an expected 50,000 vehicles per year by the end of 2026, and will enable the local assembly of the forthcoming electric EBRO model slated for 2027. This strategic move shifts production from semi-assembled imports to full on-site assembly, supporting the company’s goal of surpassing 25,000 units sold in 2026. The investment, totaling up to 250 million euros by 2029, underlines a commitment to modernising facilities and sustaining growth in the Spanish market.
The company has experienced previous business expansion situations in 2024 Ebro 2024-ES, 2026 Ebro 2026-ESand 2026 Ebro 2026-ES, with the creation of 607, 300 and 200 new jobs.
