Description
Perfumerías Avenida, a Spanish cosmetics retailer part of Grupo Recio, has initiated a Employment Redundancy File (ERE) that could affect up to 105 employees, representing around 15% of its workforce of nearly 700 people. Office and administrative staff are excluded from the measure.
The company attributes the restructuring to sustained pressure from e-commerce competitors, declining turnover since the pandemic and rising inflation-driven costs, which have significantly reduced margins. Several loss-making stores have already been closed. Online sales remain well below the sector average of 15%, prompting the launch of a new business plan focused on digital growth, including stronger social media engagement, a dedicated TikTok channel and collaborations with beauty influencers. Most affected employees are shop assistants. The company has indicated that vulnerable groups will receive particular consideration and that negotiated solutions, including role swaps, may be explored.
