Description

DeepL, a German AI company, announced a reduction of its workforce by about 250 positions, which corresponds to around 25 per cent of its workforce.

The job losses were announced by the firm at the beginning of May 2026. According to the management, the employment effect was immediate. The layoffs will affect the organisation as a whole.

DeepL has taken this step to maintain competitiveness in the high-tech sector. The company’s focus on AI-driven translation services has prompted a shift toward smaller, autonomous teams to enhance agility and reduce hierarchy.

The company was founded in 2017 and most recently had around 1,000 employees.
