Description

The US electric car manufacturer Tesla announced to create 1,000 new positions at its site in Grünheide in Brandenburg. Around 500 of the 1,000 new positions will result from the permanent hiring of temporary agency workers already working for Tesla. The company made this announcement in April 2026 and wants to complete its job growth scheme by the end of June 2026.

The expansion is linked to Tesla’s plan to increase production by around 20%, as the company is reporting rising sales and a rising demand for the Model Y.

Currently, around 10,700 employees work at the Tesla site in Grünheide.

Updated, 16/06/2026 Tesla has since announced additional investment in battery cell production at the site, which could create up to 1,500 further jobs. Around 350 of these positions are expected to be filled already in 2026, with the remaining jobs linked to the ramp-up of battery cell production from 2027 onwards. The expansion aims to establish local battery manufacturing and strengthen supply chain resilience while supporting the planned increase in vehicle production. Combined with the previously announced positions, this brings the potential total employment effect to up to 2,500 jobs.
