European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
JASPLASTIK-SK, the Slovak subsidiary of the Hungarian manufacturing group Jász-Plasztik operating in the plastics and automotive supply sector, has announced approximately 228 job cuts at its production facility in Galanta. The restructuring affects mainly production workers at the local manufacturing unit.
The layoffs are linked to reduced demand following the planned closure of Samsung Electronics in Galanta, scheduled for the end of May 2026. As Samsung has been a key customer, the majority of positions at JASPLASTIK-SK are expected to become redundant in connection with the cessation of production activities.
The redundancies are to be carried out through collective dismissal procedures in accordance with Slovak labour legislation. The company has initiated the redundancy process, and further indirect job losses may arise among subcontractors and service providers connected to its operations.
Public authorities and labour representatives have highlighted the cumulative impact on the regional labour market, as multiple companies in Galanta announce layoffs following Samsung’s exit. Labour offices are expected to provide support through job placement and retraining measures.
Jász-Plasztik is a Hungarian industrial group active in plastics processing, electronics and contract manufacturing, supplying components to major international clients. Its Slovak subsidiary has been integrated into regional supply chains linked to Samsung’s production. No previous restructuring cases involving JASPLASTIK-SK have been recorded in the ERM database.
