Description

Abai Teleservicios, a Spanish call-centre company, has launched an Employment Redundancy File (ERE) affecting up to 163 employees across eleven centres in Spain, only weeks after completing the absorption of Atento EMEA. The trade union CCOO has denounced the move, warning that the workforce adjustments anticipated during the acquisition are now materialising.

The integration process began in November 2025 with the formal purchase of Atento’s European division. In February 2026, Atento Teleservicios España was officially renamed Abai Teleservicios. Barely seventeen days later, the company announced its intention to initiate an ERE under Article 51 of Spain’s Workers’ Statute.

The redundancies primarily target central services and operational structures, where duplicated functions have emerged following the merger, including management, HR, technology and commercial teams. The legally required consultation period is about to begin, leaving affected employees in uncertainty regarding final numbers and compensation terms. The restructuring reflects broader consolidation in Spain’s contact centre sector.
