Description
Ebro, a Spanish-Chinese car manufacturer, is planning to hire 150 to 200 employees in October–November 2026, to work on local welding and painting operations.
Specifically, Ebro’s factory in Barcelona’s Zona Franca is entering a decisive phase with the launch of its new M1 production line, where complete vehicles will be assembled. This milestone, scheduled for March, has already led to the hiring of around 300 new workers. Production will initially start at three units per hour and gradually increase to 20 vehicles per hour by June, mainly for the Ebro S400 and S700 models, currently the brand’s strongest Sellers. Although body parts will continue to arrive stamped from China for now, this new phase marks a significant increase in industrial capacity in Barcelona.
By the end of 2026, Ebro aims to produce 28,000 to 30,000 vehicles, with most demand coming from Spain. Meanwhile, unions are pressing for a company-specific collective agreement tailored to the plant’s working conditions, though negotiations remain pending.
Previous business expansion examples of Ebro were recorded in the ERM database in 2024 Ebro 2024-ES and 2026Ebro 2026-ES, with the creation of 607 and 300 new jobs respectively.
