Description

Nokia has announced plans to cut up to 156 jobs in Finland as part of a restructuring aimed at simplifying its operating model and adapting to market changes driven by digitalisation and artificial intelligence

In a message sent by a company representative to the employees, jobs may be cut, particularly in the company's mobile phone network business. Nokia in Finland is instead focusing on strategically important sectors, such as the defence industry and AI.

The company has initiated formal change negotiations with employee representatives, which are scheduled to begin on 2 March 2026.

Nokia employs 6,600 people in Finland in Espoo, Tampere, and Oulu.

Updated, 09/4/2026: The negotiations have led to a decrease in the maximum number of job losses, from 156 to 121. The 121 job losses are also a preliminary estimate by the company. Of these, a maximum of around 63 jobs will be reduced in Espoo, around 11 in Tampere and 50 in Oulu.

Updated, 22/4/2026 The final number of job losses has been confirmed to be 107, which is a decrease from the previous estimation of 121. The cooperation negotiations were concluded on the 9th of April 2026, but the final number of job losses was specified a few weeks after.
