Description

Verallia, a French glass‑packaging firm, announced a restructuring that will threaten about 360 positions in France and Germany, including around 60 posts at its Châteaubernard site in Charente, where furnace No. 2 will be shut down. The main driver behind the restructuring is a structural decline in demand for glass packaging, largely due to falling cognac sales in France and a lack of medium‑term prospects for recovery.

At the Châteaubernard plant, the 60 jobs will be affected through voluntary departures, with pre‑retirement options and accompanying support measures. Verallia has presented the plan to the staff representatives, indicating that social partners will be involved in the discussion.

In 2024, the plant had 350 employees.
