Description

Linde is planning significant job cuts in its engineering division, with up to 400 positions affected at the sites in Höllriegelskreuth near Munich and in Dresden. The job cuts would account for a quarter of the workforce at these locations.

The company cites increasing international cost and technology competition as the reason for the restructuring, despite strong overall financial results in its core industrial gases business. The engineering division, which builds plants for gas processing and liquefaction, has recently lagged behind the rest of the group, prompting concerns about a lasting downsizing of the German locations.

Employees have been offered options such as severance agreements, transfer companies or partial retirement. Employees can make their decision until April 2026. Anyone who does not choose one of the offered options will have to expect compulsory redundancies. Negotiations with employee representatives are ongoing as the company aims to adjust capacity in its project driven plant engineering operations.

Linde employs 66,000 people worldwide.
