European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
A.P. Møller-Mærsk, a large global company from Denmark focusing on commercial freight transport and logistics, has announced plans to cut approximately 1,000 jobs worldwide.
The cuts will affect the headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark, as well as regional and national offices, including the Hamburg location (Germany), but there is no detailed information how the cuts will be distributed to particular countries. The restructuring will cover its corporate and administrative functions.
The restructuring is driven by the need to simplify the organization, improve productivity, and maintain cost discipline in anticipation of industry-wide overcapacities and falling freight rates in 2026. The programme is expected to generate annual savings of $180 million (approx. €153 million).
Headquartered in Denmark, A.P. Møller-Mærsk is one of the world's largest shipping companies, currently employing around 100,000 people worldwide.
