Proofpoint, a US-based cybersecurity company, has announced an expansion of its Irish operations with the establishment of a new AI Innovation Centre in Cork. As part of this growth, the company will immediately create 45 new specialist jobs, including data scientists, AI and large-language-model (LLM) experts, and security-operations personnel.
Proofpoint plans a second hiring round in the coming years, bringing the total number of new roles up to 100. These will support functions such as cloud security, data protection, and AI-driven cybersecurity product development.
Government representatives welcomed the investment as confirmation of Ireland’s status as a European hub for cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
