Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

As announced on 4 September 2025, the climate technology company Daikin Manufacturing Germany, part of the Daikin Europe Group, is relocating part of its production of heat pump systems from its plant in Güglingen, Germany, to Daikin Devices Czech Republic in Brno, Czech Republic.
The restructuring will result in the loss of 200 jobs in Güglingen, Germany. According to the company, the restructuring is due to weakened demand for heat pump heating systems and uncertain political support in EU countries. With this restructuring, the company aims to increase productivity and enhance competitiveness. The production lines are to be gradually relocated by the end of June 2026.
The Güglingen plant employs 400 workers.
