Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

On September 1st, the British paper manufacturing firm DS Smith announced the closure of its paper mill in Belišće causing the dismissal of all of its 200 employees at the site.
As the reason for this, the company states its commitment to long-term sustainability of its business model and operational efficiency. The company wants to instead shift its investment focus to its packaging plant also located in Belišće.
In line with the Croatian legal frame for closures, there are currently discussions underway with the employee representatives regarding support measures and the proposed time frame of the closure.
