Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The German defense contractor Rheinmetall is creating around 500 new jobs, particularly in production at its Unterlüß site (Lower Saxony), through the construction and commissioning of a new artillery ammunition plant.
The expansion involves investments of around €500 million and plans for additional investments to increase production capacity in the wake of the war in Ukraine. Political representatives such as Defense Minister Pistorius and SPD leader Klingbeil welcomed the project, which will make the Unterlüß site Europe's largest ammunition plant.
Rheinmetall currently employs over 3,000 people at the site. In 2023, Rheinmetall announced the expansion of its Weeze site (North Rhine-Westphalia) with the creation of 400 new jobs Rheinmetall 2023 - DE.
