Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Jack Link's, a US food company, has opened a new production facility in Guben (Brandenburg, Germany), creating around 100 new jobs, about half of which are filled by employees from Poland. The new jobs are in the production of the Bifi mini salami brand, which has been manufactured in Guben since September 2024.
Further recruitment is planned, as three-shift operation is planned at the site and the construction of up to three additional production halls is possible in the coming years. The company also plans to create apprenticeships from 2026, particularly for electricians, mechatronics engineers and food technology specialists.
The expansion is supported by public funding. Local politicians responded positively to the investment: Minister President Dietmar Woidke (SPD) emphasised the importance of the project for structural change in Lusatia, and the mayor of Guben, Fred Mahro (CDU), stressed the value of creating reliable industrial jobs.
Jack Link's was founded in 1885, has over 4,000 employees worldwide and produces more than 100 different products. The Guben site currently produces around 2 million Bifi salamis per week.
