Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Tirso di Muggia has initiated collective dismissal procedures affecting 160 workers, primarily women over 55, while uncertainty continues regarding a potential acquisition. Trade unions were convened last Monday to begin discussions with Confindustria as employees await clarity on the prospective buyer's identity and intentions.
The workforce fears a repeat of the failed acquisition by Roncadin of Pordenone, which previously fell through, leaving their employment future in limbo. The demographic profile of affected workers, mostly women approaching retirement age, adds particular concern to the situation as alternative employment opportunities may be limited.
Despite ongoing uncertainty about the company's future, trade unions maintain workplace safety as a central priority in their demands. The collective dismissal procedures represent the latest development in what has become a prolonged period of instability for the Muggia facility.
