Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The Oettinger brewery plans to discontinue beer production at its Braunschweig site by spring 2026. This will affect 150 jobs in production and bottling. Production will be relocated to the Oettingen (Bavaria) and Mönchengladbach (North Rhine-Westphalia) sites. Parts of logistics and materials management will remain in Braunschweig.
The company cites declining beer consumption in Germany, overcapacity and the advanced age of the facilities, which would have required a costly overhaul, as reasons for the closure. Oettinger's beer sales have fallen to the level of over 20 years ago.
The affected employees will be transferred to a transfer company and continue to be employed on a temporary basis to support their professional reorientation.
The brewery in Braunschweig was founded in 1871 and taken over by Oettinger in 2009.
