Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The Hungarian subsidiary of French cheese manufacturer Savencia will close its production site in Répcelak, Western Transdanubia. This decision will result in the layoff of approximately 160 workers by the end of 2025.
The closure is part of a European-level reorganisation. The Répcelak plant produces processed cheese, and according to the plan, production will be gradually transferred to a facility in Kempten, Germany. The management states that the Répcelak site is outdated and its production capacity is underutilised. As a result, upgrading the facility would be uneconomical.
The management also says it will try to offer new jobs to as many affected workers as possible, either at its Veszprém site (which is nearly 100 kilometres from Répcelak) or in Kempten. The remaining workers will receive severance packages that are more generous than what is required by law and the collective agreement.
