European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
RTP, a Portuguese public broadcasting company, is undergoing an internal restructuring process. This process includes the voluntary departure of 97 workers. The restructuring also involves a reduction in the number of management positions, from 39 to 28.
For the entire restructuring process, the Government has already approved funding of €40 million.
In addition, a further 41 employees have expressed interest in leaving the organisation, involving an additional cost of €2 million.
This year, RTP is expected to record a loss of over €18 million, following 15 consecutive years of profit.
Updated, 26/08/2026 A voluntary exit plan for 157 employees by the end of the year has been presented.
This reduction is part of an internal restructuring process aimed at ensuring financial sustainability and operational efficiency and is based on a 4:1 replacement ratio, meaning that four employees must leave for every new hire. The plan is expected to be fully implemented by October 2026.
