Description

Colruyt, the Belgian retail chain, has put all 104 of its French shops up for sale. Negotiations are underway with Intermarché (Les Mousquetaires group) to acquire 81 of these supermarkets in France for €215 million, a deal that would secure the jobs of 1,319 employees. However, 24 facilities still do not have a buyer.

This acquisition mainly concerns shops located in the Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions. The predicted job losses are around 850, but trade unions estimate that it could reach the number of 950 redundancies. The takeover could be effective in the first half of 2026, subject to approval by the French Competition Authority.
