Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The American company Exide Technologies, specialising in the manufacture and distribution of lead-acid batteries, has announced the closure of its factory located in Lille-Sud, which employs nearly 200 people.
The company cited economic difficulties and market overcapacity as the primary reasons for its closure decision. It also stated that it was on the lookout for buyers and that it was about to set up a job protection plan. Layoffs are not expected to begin before the beginning of 2026. Exide Technologies' difficulties must have been compounded by an incident involving lead contamination in the surrounding soil.
