Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The Dutch company BDR Thermea specializing in the manufacture of domestic and industrial heating appliances employs nearly 850 people in France. As part of a social economic committee meeting, it announced the elimination of 370 jobs in France, including 320 or more in its site located in Mertzwiller in the Bas-Rhin region which will cease its operations by 2027.
The company is stricken by the collapse of the heat pump market and competition from numerous foreign actors, particularly from Asia. It has therefore recorded considerable losses and a deficit of nearly €17 million. Two factsheets have already been published on BDR Thermea : [BDR Thermea 2021 - FR (https://apps.eurofound.europa.eu/restructuring-events/detail/106090) BDR Thermea 2022 - FR
