Description
Central Uusimaa Welfare Region has concluded cooperation negotiations, leading to the dismissal of 129 staff. A total of 286 positions are affected. Eight employees are moved to a part-time contract, 29 are moved to new tasks as an alternative to direct dismissal, 56 positions will not be filled after the current employee retires and 64 currently open positions will also be removed.
The cost savings affect the organisation as a whole including registered nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, social counselors, dental hygienists, as well as expert and managerial staff. According to Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals, the savings will endanger the services that the welfare regions have a legal responsibility to provide.
Central Uusimaa Welfare Region has had a budget deficit for multiple years in a row. The welfare region employs more than 4,300 people.
Welfare regions are a regional government body formed in 2023, responsible for health, rescue, and social services.
