Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The American company GXO Logistics announced a Job Protection Plan in March 2025. A total of 197 people are at risk of losing their jobs in the Saint-Michel-sur-Orge site, located in the Essonne region. Employees will be relocated to sites in the South of Ile de France or throughout the country.
Zara, one of its clients, is planning to relocate its logistics operations to other countries, particularly sites in Spain and Poland. Although the company maintains that it aims to redeploy all employees at its other sites, trade unions continue to denounce GXO Logistics' aim to take advantage of this operation to reduce its productivity costs at the expense of workers.
