Description

AkzoNobel, a Dutch multinational producer of paints and lacquers, has announced it will be closing its facility in Machelen. In total, all 133 employees are currently at risk of losing their jobs. It involves 98 workers and 35 administrative staff. The main reasoning behind the closure of the facility, according to the company management, is a reduced demand for paint products following the pandemic.

In addition to this facility, another facility in the Netherlands will be closed. The other facility in Belgium, employing around 270 employees, seems to remain unaffected. As prescribed by the Renault Law, the company management will now be informed and consulted on the closure.
