Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Save the Children, a global humanitarian organization, has announced plans to cut 2,300 jobs worldwide.
Under the programme, the organization is to close its five country offices in Sri Lanka, Poland, Brazil, Georgia, and Liberia. The layoffs follow the Trump administration’s decision to freeze over 90% of USAID’s foreign aid contracts and eliminate $60 billion in U.S. international assistance. The organization also confirmed that around 300 positions were affected by job cuts and voluntary resignations in its branch in the United States.
These restructuring measures come as Save the Children halts programs in 40 countries, impacting up to 12 million children and families dependent on its support. The organization described the funding cut as a historic betrayal and warned of significant disruptions, including millions of aid items stranded in warehouses. Save the Children said the speed and scale of the cuts have caused chaos, forcing it to make difficult decisions on staffing and operations.
Founded in 1919, Save the Children works in over 100 countries to provide health care, education, nutrition, and protection for children in crisis. The organization employs about 25,000 people worldwide.
