Winkelmann Group, a German industrial manufacturer, is launching a new production facility in Rimavská Sobota, Slovakia, with plans to create up to 500 jobs. The factory, which represents an investment of €110 million, is scheduled to start production in autumn 2025, and recruitment is already underway.
The company is seeking workers for production, logistics, maintenance, and administrative roles and is prioritizing the recruitment of local talent from the Banská Bystrica region.
The new facility will produce components for heating and air conditioning systems and will serve the group's growing customer base across Europe. According to company representatives, Rimavská Sobota was chosen due to its strategic location, availability of workforce, and support from local and state authorities. The investment is part of Winkelmann’s broader expansion strategy outside Germany.
Training programs and collaboration with vocational schools are being developed to ensure an adequately skilled workforce. Local authorities, including the mayor of Rimavská Sobota, Jozef Šimko, have welcomed the investment as a key opportunity to reduce unemployment, which has long been among the highest in Slovakia.
The launch of Winkelmann’s operations is one of the largest industrial investments in southern Slovakia in recent years and stands in contrast to the wave of factory closures elsewhere in the country.
